This is my best friend’s cat Petey. Crock Pot is much smaller.

Hi! I’m Hannah Hayes, an award-winning editor, writer, and producer living in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’ve put many miles on my Volkswagen and airline credit card to tell stories about travel, food, culture, and music, often in the American South.

Most recently, I was the Liner Notes and Print Editor for Vinyl Me, Please, a record reissue company that celebrates and champions the culture, history, and art of great albums. Currently, I’m editor-at-large for Wildsam Field Guides, where I was previously a lead editor for narrative-driven guidebooks to American cities, regions, and road trips. Before that, I was the Deputy Editor at The Bitter Southerner and the Travel and Culture Editor for Southern Living. I’ve contributed writing and storytelling to Garden & Gun, Esquire.com, and NPR’s “Marketplace.” I can tell you more about my days working for Martha Stewart, the Sedgwick County Zoo, a music festival, and the venue made famous by Prince and Purple Rain over coffee some time.

I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism and earned my master’s degree in Creative Business Leadership at Savannah College of Art and Design.

I live with my cat, Crock Pot, in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood equidistant between, what I believe to be, the best dive bar and sandwich shop in the world. I really enjoy waving to my neighbors on long walks, Steely Dan, hosting overly themed parties, Bob Dylan, porch sitting, and making pimento cheese for my pals.
